There are probably a dozen or more events involving purchasing your own OMNI, advertising, loans being offered, purchasing privately-owned ships and weapons, etc. If OMNIs are doing all the work, on what basis is credit being issued? Why is there even a stock market if OMNIs are wholly capable of the kind of incredible foresight and planning necessary to independently plot their independence and ascension? But there was still a functioning stock market, with gains and losses being posted, right up until the collapse. And yet, we meet a guy who was a banker for one of the house lords, surrounded by other bankers. The alternative is if no one is growing food, the Empire had twenty years worth of food, just stockpiled? And the same as other resources? Mother was a miner, described as the lowest, dreariest work possible and yet people were supposed to be incredibly depressed with all the jobs taken by OMNIs. We see humans have figured out how to run and maintain ships, modify space stations, presumably go about (limited) production of their drugs, run a business empire, etc. That part doesn't make sense, because in the course of our journey we meet doctors - entirely capable ones - and see farmers whose only issue is that they can't grow crops on their marginally habitable world. OK, maybe that could make sense, but in the ending dialogue, the OMNI says that in a thousand years maybe humanity would relearn how to cure an illness or grow a crop under the harshest of authoritarian control. The OMNIs were simultaneously described as something only the richest of the rich could take advantage of and yet mankind was entirely dependent upon them. My first problem was the world-building (show) didn't actually support the endings offered (tell). Note: I originally posted this to the Steam forums meaning for it to be much shorter, but apparently I have a lot to get off my chest about this game.
